I have come to appreciate loons and decided to carve a print every year with a loon in black and white. I discovered some antique sheet music and decided that the musical notes suggested the sound of the water and the sounds of the loons, combining the environment and the creature in visual symbols. I design and carve the block, ink it and print it on the sheet music. Sometimes words appear from the lyrics and make a further addition. I sign in pencil and use my Asian name seal (the red circle with my name in Japanese on it) as a stamp of approval!
